America in Color from 1939-1943

I wanted to share this link to some amazing photographs posted on the denverpost.com photo blog.

Does anyone know if photos belonging to The Library of Congress are copyright free to American citizens?

i'm pretty sure they are free to use. i don't know how citizenship plays into it. More info on the LOC page

I love these photographs! I love looking at the clothing, the prices (five cents for grapefruit!), the vehicles. I can't help but wonder if the children in these photographs are still living somewhere, if they've seen these photos.

My favourite is #54, the ladies on their lunch break.
