My pastor called me and asked me to do the Chidlren's Sermon on Transformation Sunday (FEB 14). Last time he asked me I told him, "If God gives me an idea then I'll do it. You better pray God comes up with something or you'll be doing the Children's Sermon." Of course God came through. I used my sister's ceramic rattles that she made from scraps of clay. Each one is a different shape, size and color. Some rattle, some don't. The sermon: we are each different and beautiful in our own way.
When I realized Transformation Sunday is the same day as Valentine's Day (at least this year), the Children's Sermon fell into place.
What Holiday is it today? Valentine's Day.
If you had to describe Valentine's Day with just one word, what would that word be? Love.
The Bible says that God is Love.
Daryl, Beth & I sang the 1 John 4:7 & 8 song:
Beloved, Let us love one another, love one another
For love is of God and everyone who loves is born of God and knows God
He who loves not, knows not God for God is love, God is love
Beloved, let us love one another, First John four seven and eight
...First John four seven and eight.
How do you show people you love them? With kisses.
Diego & Owen, with the help of their moms, showed the entire congregation that they love them by giving each person a kiss. They passed out Hershey's kisses. I let people know that it was perfectly OK to give their kiss away ( maybe they don't like chocolate or don't eat sugar) because kisses are as good to give as they are to receive.

Very nice sermon, Syd. Wished I could have been there to hear it! Linda
Did any of these ever break so you could find out what was inside? I remember Beemer wouldn't tell us!
